New Orleans had an outstanding breakthrough season 2 seasons ago after finally building a championship-caliber team. This past season, though, did not live up to their expectations after they had injuries and trade controversies plague their season. Most of this centered around Tyson Chandler. The Hornets could use another center who is less prone to injury than Chandler and would be a solid backup. The Hornets only have one pick in this year's draft.
At pick #21 the Hornets should draft:
Eric Maynor - Virginia Commonwealth
PG
6'3" 164 lbs.
Maynor compares to a player who was a solid PG in the NBA, such as Eric Snow. Maynor is a fearless performer in the clutch, stepping up in the biggest moments of the biggest games. Maynor possesses deep range abilities (39% 3PFG as a junior and 36% 3PFG as a senior.) Maynor also has a solid mid-range and step back jumper as well. While Maynor possesses the right height for an NBA PG (6'3"), but his weight (164 lbs.) is way below what it should be. I mean I am 6'1" and almost 170 lbs. It is questionable whether or not Maynor can bulk up and keep and improve his skills.
