Dallas Mavericks 2009 Draft

With the star-packed roster that the Mavericks have, I would consider their 2008-2009 season a disappointment, though they made the playoffs and defeated the Spurs in the first round. With players such as Nowitzki, Kidd, Terry, and Josh Howard, the Mavericks should be consistently winning 50-something games every season. One thing to be done is start Terry intead of making him a sixth man. The Mavericks only have one pick in this draft as well.

At pick #22 the Mavericks should draft:
Terrence Williams - Louisville
SG/SF
6'6" 213 lbs.

Williams most compares to JR Rider or maybe even Corey Maggette. Williams is a triple-double waiting to happen, averaging 12 ppg, 8 rpg, and over 5 apg in his college career. Williams has good ball-handling skills which the Mavericks will need when Kidd retires. Although he has improved his 3-point shooting over his collegiate career from 31% to 38% his senior year, he will really need to continue his development at the NBA level. His offense is his weakness in general. He is not a consistent scorer.

Predicted 2009-2010 record: 52-30
