Cleveland Cavaliers 2009 Draft

LeBron James is the best player in the NBA and the Cavaliers 66-16 record this past season proves that. The Cavaliers finished with the best record in the NBA which landed them the last pick in the first round. The Cavaliers also now have a second all-star to help LeBron James, Mo Williams. With these two playing as well as they do and the great supporting cast of the Cavaliers, they do not need much improvement at all.

At pick #30 the Cavaliers should draft:
Taj Gibson - Southern California
PF
6'10" 214 lbs.

At 6'10", you wouldn't expect Gibson to have a good stroke anywhere on the court except for maybe 3 feet awy from the hoop. Gibson has an effective midrange shot and is a very aggressive rebounder. Gibson could has the potential to be a starter his rookie season for the Cavaliers or backup Varejao and almost split time with him.

At pick #46 the Cavaliers should draft:
Jon Brockman - Washington
PF
6'7" 255 lbs.

In NBA history, Brockman most closely compares to Kurt Rambis. Brockman plays solid post defense, not going for pump fakes or getting beat off the dribble. He runs the floor very well and can finish lobs or tip-dunk missed layups on the fast break. He is always the most passionate player on the court and provides 48-minute hustle that coaches like. His biggest weakness is the fact that he is only 6'7" playing PF and would not be great at backing down NBA PFs.
