The Hawks, after being 13-69 just 5 seasons ago, made the playoffs for 2 consecutive seasons. I congratulate them for that. But, they are not making the playoffs this season. Their roster is just too weak. This is who I believe the Hawks should draft if they would like a chance at making the playoffs.
At pick #19 the Hawks should draft:
Wayne Ellington - North Carolina
SG
6'5" 202 lbs.
Ellington has astounding speed and aggression and has a decent 3-point shot to go along with his speed. He also as a passion for the sport that all Hawks, except for Joe Johnson and Mike Bibby, are lacking. Ellington would develop into a star backing up Joe Johnson and learning from him as well. Ellington would be a great long-term pick.
At pick #49 the Hawks should draft:
Sergii Gladyr - Ukraine
SG
6'6" 190 lbs.
Gladyr, though a Ukranian star, will not be a good short-term pick for the Hawks at all. But the Hawks need to be looking long term anyways. When Joe Johnson retires, if the Hawks hold onto Ellington and Gladyr, which I doubt, they could be a good duo and shooting threat.
